Designing an Engaging eLearning Experience in NovoEd

What was the goal?

Create an engaging, interactive course to teach financial advisors a new toolkit for client interactions, based on Family Systems Theory

Who is the audience and what do they need?

Audience: Corporate training for Financial Advisors

Problem:

  • The previous PowerPoint-based training felt outdated and lacked engagement.
  • COVID-19 shifted the need for a flexible, online learning platform that could support in-person, hybrid, or fully virtual learning.

What were the learning objectives?

Help financial advisors understand clients on a human level.

Teach the complexities of multigenerational families & financial decision-making.

How was the content structured?

We structured the course into modules aligned with Family Systems Theory, each introducing a key concept from the toolkit.

How did I dazzle my participants?

To replace static PowerPoint slides, I integrated:

  • Surveys & discussions for participant reflection
  • Quizzes to reinforce learning
  • Videos & assigned readings (including works by Brené Brown and other thought leaders)
  • Created custom videos & graphics that aligned with corporate branding.
  • Developed a clean, engaging course interface for a seamless learning experience

What were the results and what did I learn?

Coming from a graphic design background, this project taught me how to interact with content as a design element, blending visual storytelling with learning experience design.

✔ Participants found the course easier to navigate & more engaging.

✔ The shift to digital & hybrid learning allowed us to reach more advisors than ever before.

✔ Data showed improved learner retention & comprehension
